Back from Sin City

Tonjia and I made it home from Vegas. We didn't break the bank, and we didn't come home with any cars, jewels, or piles of cash. Like the vast majority of Vegas visitors we only brought home some memories, and a pile of dirty clothes.

We did have some good times, though. One day we met Elvis on the bus. We were taking the Duce (the bus that travels the Strip) and one of the passengers was an Elvis impersonator. Last year we didn't see a single Elvis, so this was a treat. The man was good, and he even sang a few songs for us, and the rest of the passengers.

On Tuesday night, Tonjia and I saw the Cirque du Soleil show "Mystere". It was quite the show, a lot of action, music, and flash. It's amazing what those people could do with their bodies, and with the costumes.

We spent a few bucks on the penny slots, as I mentioned before, we aren't high rollers, and the casinos don't make a lot off of us. Our room was at the Excalibur Hotel. The room was nice, with a wide screen TV. Oddly enough, there aren't a lot of channels to watch in the room. I guess the hotel doesn't want people to spend time in their rooms, instead of playing on the casino floor.

The best part of the trip, was getting to spend some time alone with Tonjia. So often we are going in opposite directions, and it was nice to spend some 'us time' together.

So, now it's back to work. It's going to take me a while to get used to streets without a lot of neon and flashing lights.

Off to Vegas, Baby!

We leave this evening for Las Vegas. This is the second trip I'll have made to "Sin City", and I'm looking forward to spending a few days on the Strip.

The other day, while Tonjia was at the Hairdresser, her stylist told me "Good luck with the craps tables". I misheard her as saying "Good luck with the craft table", and I was wondering what kind of craft table I was supposed to be assembling.

I've been practicing at on line casinos, playing for fun, rather than real money. It's too bad that the casinos in Vegas don't let you do that too. I'm a great gambler when it doesn't involve real money, but when it comes to having to pay out real green, I'm definitely a "Low Roller". We will probably be playing the penny slots, rather than the high roller tables. I doubt Tonjia and I will be getting the comps. Oh well, at least it's a fun get away.

Unfortunately, I've come down with a head cold, so the flight is going to be an experience. At least it's only about an hour's flight. We leave here at 9 pm MDT, and arrive at Las Vegas at 9:25 PDT. The weather is supposed to be nice, but windy tonight, so the landing may be a bit bumpy. I'm not the worlds best flyer, even in the best of conditions, so a bumpy flight is not my favorite thing.

We are staying at the Excalibur Hotel, at the south end of the Strip. Last time we stayed at Circus Circus, which was fun, except for the clowns. Is there anyone who actually likes clowns? I've always found them creepy.

Wish us luck, and catch up with you later.

Wow, is it March aready?

It's been a couple of weeks since I last checked in. In that time, my mother in law passed away, Tonjia was gone for a week, for the funeral. I was called for Jury Duty, but didn't have to go (the trials were canceled), and I took my National Registry exam to re certify for another two years. It's been a very busy time, and now I'm getting ready for a trip to Las Vegas.

The weather here in Western Colorado has been very warm, and springlike. It's in the 70's now and sunny. I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop, and we get hit with another blast of winter. For the meantime, I'll enjoy the sunshine and pleasant weather.

I'll get back to you soon, and I hope I don't go this long between posts again.
